Virtual conference

The annual ASX Small and Mid-Cap Conference provided investors with a unique opportunity to hear from emerging leaders across a broad range of ASX-listed small and mid-cap companies. 

This year, for the first time, the conference was hosted live in an entirely virtual format over three days with morning and afternoon sessions. Investors had the opportunity to hear live from leaders across a broad range of ASX-listed small and mid-cap companies. 

The conference featured a market update and a micro-cap speed round, giving each CEO seven minutes to pitch their business. All registrants had the opportunity to submit questions via the online platform and had them answered live.

AdAlta Limited (ASX: 1AD) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company using its unique i-body platform to develop novel protein therapeutics addressing drug targets that have proven challenging to traditional antibody technologies. The lead asset, AD-214, is being developed for fibrotic disease, initially for the degenerative orphan disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and is now in Phase I clinical trials, providing clinical validation of the platform. Anatara Lifesciences Limited (ASX: ANR) is developing an OTC medicine to address factors associated with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): microbiome dysbiosis, inflammation and mucosal damage. With preclinical development successfully completed, a clinical trial is anticipated in late 2020. IBS affects 11% of people globally. Patients experience high failure rates of prescription therapies and have a poor quality of life. 50% of IBS patients seek symptomatic relief through the use of adjunct therapies and complementary medicines.
