To help promote growth in the equity options market, ASX is pleased to introduce an Options Liquidity Growth Program in the form of fee rebates for three months from 1 January through to 31 March 2021.
Rebate of registration fees
Exchange-traded options (ETO) registration fees for on-screen (on-market) activity will be rebated.
Rebate of market access fees
To facilitate the expected increase in interest for ETOs market makers will be rebated a portion of their ASX Market Access fees helping to improve on-screen liquidity for customers to transact against.
When you trade an option, the value of the trade is generally lower than if you were to trade the same number of the underlying shares. Because of this, Options are generally a cost-efficient way to trade your view of a stock. The costs involved in trading an option include brokerage and ASX Clear fees.
As a retail trader, from 1 January to 31 March 2021, ASX will not be charging this fee for all trades executed ‘On-Screen’.
Please note all other related fees are still applicable including brokerage paid to your broker. See more: Cost of Trading Options.
I am an institutional client
As an Institutional client, from 1 January to 31 March 2021, ASX will not be charging this fee for all trades executed ‘On-Screen’. All trades which are reported as ‘Special Crossings’ will still attract the ASX Clear Fee.
