Our Executive Team
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director
Helen Lofthouse commenced as ASX’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in August 2022. She is an accomplished financial markets executive with more than 20 years’ experience in cash equity and debt markets, listed and OTC derivatives, and clearing and settlement services.
Helen joined ASX in September 2015 and has held senior executive roles with the company, including Group Executive Markets - ASX’s largest individual business by revenue - and before that, Executive General Manager of Derivatives and OTC Markets. In these roles, Helen was responsible for ASX’s cash and derivatives trading, including equities, interest rates, commodities and energy products, ASX’s international business development teams, benchmarks, and derivatives and OTC clearing.
Prior to joining ASX, Helen was a Managing Director at UBS (2011-2015) with global responsibility for the OTC clearing business and Head of Clearing and Execution Sales in Europe. She also worked at J.P. Morgan in London (1998-2011) in various businesses including futures and OTC clearing, derivatives prime brokerage, credit markets and cash equities. Her earlier career involved project management and technology consulting.
Chief Strategy Officer and Acting Group Executive, Listings
Blair Beaton was appointed Chief Strategy Officer in March 2017. He is responsible for developing, driving and aligning ASX strategy, and overseeing ASX’s Media and Communications function.
Prior to ASX, Blair was Head of Strategy and Mergers and Acquisitions at Challenger Limited. He has more than 25 years of experience advising boards and CEOs in Canada and Australia, in organisations such as PwC, Challenger and Capital West Partners, an independent Canadian corporate finance advisory firm.
Acting Co-Group Executive, Markets and General Manager, Equities and Commodities
Bradley Campbell joined ASX in September 2018 and was appointed acting Co-Group Executive, Markets in August 2022 (with Fiona Tramontana). Bradley is also General Manager, Equities and Commodities at ASX.
Before joining ASX, Bradley was a Managing Director at Standard Chartered, where he was responsible globally for the metals trading business, and was Head of Commodities Trading in Europe. Prior to this, Bradley worked in commodities trading roles in various locations for Standard Chartered and Macquarie.
Group Executive, Technology & Data and Chief Information Officer
Dan Chesterman was appointed Group Executive of ASX’s Technology and Data business in July 2021.
In this role, Dan is charged with delivering a comprehensive suite of technology and data solutions to meet the evolving needs of ASX’s internal and external customers. He is responsible for ASX’s data centre and connectivity business; the market data and analytics products (including DataSphere); ASX’s distributed ledger technology (DLT) platform and solutions business (DLT Solutions); and in parallel, remains accountable for the core technology functions of ASX including infrastructure, architecture, engineering, testing and systems integration.
Dan has extensive domestic and international financial services experience and familiarity with technology and data businesses from strategy, infrastructure, delivery, regulatory, operational and customer perspectives.
Group Executive, Human Resources
Lisa Green was appointed Group Executive for Human Resources in August 2015. She is responsible for aligning employee and culture programs to meet ASX’s strategic objectives.
In her role, Lisa has charge of diversity, learning and development, recruitment, performance management activities, compensation and benefit structures, HR policies and systems, and ongoing employee alignment and engagement initiatives.
Lisa has extensive experience within the financial services industry. She has held senior HR positions with Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and JPMorgan in Sydney and New York. Prior to joining ASX, Lisa was Head of Global Vendor Management for JP Morgan’s Real Estate division, with responsibility for overseeing the simplification and outsourcing of various real estate functions globally.
Group Executive, Securities and Payments
Tim Hogben was appointed Group Executive of ASX’s Securities and Payments business (previously Equity Post-Trade) in July 2021.
In his current role, Tim is responsible for ASX’s cash equities clearing and settlement businesses; ASX’s settlement and depository business for the wholesale debt market; critical support services ASX Collateral, payments, and financial settlement management (FSM/Sympli); issuer and post-trade investor services; and the CHESS replacement project (of which he assumed overall executive responsibility for delivery and governance in October 2020).
Tim joined ASX in 2000 and has extensive markets experience, strong industry relationships and a thorough understanding of the operational, technical, customer and regulatory complexities that drive trading, clearing and settlement. He has been involved in the CHESS replacement project since its inception and has experience in service delivery, operational workflows, system development, control environments and leading multi-faceted projects.
Chief Financial Officer
Gillian Larkins was appointed Chief Financial Officer of ASX in October 2018. In this role, she is responsible for ASX’s Finance, Treasury, Investor Relations, ESG and National Facilities functions.
Gillian has more than 25 years of experience in finance, strategy, and management roles across a number of industries. Prior to ASX, Gillian was at Perpetual Limited, initially as Group Executive Transformation and then as CFO (2013 – 2018) with responsibility across finance, technology, legal, compliance and risk. Before Perpetual, Gillian was CFO of Westpac’s Institutional Bank and CFO for Citigroup’s operations in Australia and New Zealand.
Chief Customer and Operating Officer
Val Mathews joined ASX in May 2019 and was appointed Chief Customer and Operating Officer (CCOO) in July 2021. As CCOO, Val has overall responsibility for management of the Customer and Operations Function, covering customer experience and digital delivery; customer facing support services; media, communications, marketing and brand; and ASX’s project delivery office. Prior to her current role, Val was ASX Chief Operating Officer (2020-2021) and Executive General Manager of Operations (2019-2020).
Group General Counsel and Company Secretary
Daniel Moran has been Group General Counsel and Company Secretary since October 2017. He is responsible for ASX’s Legal, Company Secretarial and Regulatory Policy functions.
Daniel joined ASX in 2010 as Deputy General Counsel, working across ASX's business and functional lines with a particular focus on ASX's corporate functions, transactions, and listings and issuers.
Prior to ASX, Daniel worked as a corporate and transactional lawyer at Herbert Smith Freehills in Sydney and London where he acted on acquisitions and disposals, capital raisings and restructures, as well as advising on a range of corporate legal, regulatory and governance issues.
Chief Compliance Officer
Janine Ryan was appointed Chief Compliance Officer of ASX in July 2020. She is responsible for overseeing the compliance and enforcement services to the various ASX Group entities that operate markets or clearing and settlement facilities.
Janine joined ASX in August 2013 and was previously Deputy General Counsel, working across ASX's business with a particular focus on listings and issuer services, corporate and strategy. Janine has more than 24 years of experience as a lawyer, specialising in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and corporate, regulatory and governance matters.
Prior to ASX, Janine was a partner at Gilbert + Tobin and Special Counsel at Herbert Smith Freehills.
Acting Co-Group Executive, Markets and General Manager, Rates
Fiona Tramontana joined ASX in June 2019 and was appointed acting Co-Group Executive, Markets in August 2022 (with Bradley Campbell). Fiona is also General Manager, Rates at ASX.
Prior to joining ASX, Fiona was Eurex European Head of Sales - FI Derivatives, Funding and Financing, based in London.
Fiona was also an Executive Director at J.P. Morgan, London in the collateral management business and has worked in numerous roles with Macquarie Bank in Sydney, London and New York, covering exchanged traded derivatives, clearing and energy market OTC derivative sales, and developing client bases in Europe, the Middle East and the USA. Prior to that Fiona worked for a boutique investment management house in Australia specialising in derivative overlays and tactical asset allocation.
Chief Risk Officer
Hamish Treleaven was appointed Chief Risk Officer in March 2017. He is responsible for designing and implementing all aspects of the risk management framework that ASX uses to operate and manage its business.
Hamish has extensive experience in financial markets risk management across all asset classes and product types.
Prior to joining ASX, Hamish was the Executive General Manager of Portfolio and Market Risk Management at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he worked from 2005 to 2017, with responsibility for risk management oversight of the Global Markets and Group Treasury businesses and for group-wide risk quantification for both regulatory and economic capital.
Hamish has extensive experience in derivative risk quantification and management, along with the related technology requirements. He has also been a Managing Director at Zurich Capital Markets Asia and Bankers Trust Australia.
